The Challenge
HughesNet™ is the world’s leading provider of Broadband satellite services. Yet it had very limited web presence for its web site Hughes SME, targeted specifically towards small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India.
Wisitech did a careful study of the web site and listed the challenges it was facing:
Design
- Site design was not professional and did not inspire confidence in the services provided by HCIL. There was far too much text in too small a font size, all jammed together which did not inspire the visitor to read. Too many topics had been given in boxes and none of them stood out. The links above were also jammed together with none of them catching attention. The static banner did not convey anything much about either the company or its products.
Content
- USP was not coming through – There was too much rambling text which was not web-friendly at all particularly in today’s attention economy. Most importantly, the USP of Hughes solutions as against its competitors was not visible. The content should have focused on how high-speed internet by satellite is better than the services provided by the competitors. The pages of the website were not planned out, nor were they easily navigable.
Usability
- Not user friendly - Every page should have had a “call to action” wherein a prospective client may fill the form, email and/or call a phone no. and talk to a customer support executive in HCIL. Each page should have focused on its primary area of concern and not have a bit of everything in it which gave it a confused look.
